Hiya, welcome to Sailor Coruscant's Archive. I'm your host, Sailor Coruscant, though in real life I go by the (somewhat more prosaic) name 'Catherine'. I'm a PhD student who occasionally dabbles in fandom. That means that as you wander around my site, you'll no doubt find fanfiction and fanart for my various projects, but there are also a few original stories (one of which was even published for money - well, gift vouchers), my photo albums (currently under construction) and of course my online diary (which I am going to update any day now)! So please look around, have fun, let me know your thoughts on yaoi and hopefully we'll become friends someday.

My day to day life is sometimes interesting, sometimes full of insight, and sometimes just plain weird. So, here for the very first time is the totally insane rantings and ravings of Catherine. I don't normally approve of sharing my thoughts with the internet at large, but what the heck. Let's give it a try, shall we?

Chibi-Sailor Coruscant in a pinch! Okay universe, much is forgiven...

...because google could tell me what 0.03 g/cm^2 is in solar masses/parsec^2, and one of the builders outside is whistling beautifully.

I'm still not sure about this 'getting out of bed each morning' thing, but right now that's tomorrow's problem.

Chibi-Sailor Coruscant in a pinch! Not that I'm miserable or suicidal or anything...

Wisdom teeth out cost me: $50 hospital co-pay, $580 anaesthetic, $1,700 surgeon's fees = $2,330 (upfront. I raided my post-PhD vacation fund to pay those bills).
Medicare + my health insurance (in that order) have refunded/paid: rest of hospital, ($170.70 + 56.90) anaesthetic, (0 + $507) surgeon's fees = $734.6
Total out of pocket: Four or more weeks hostelling in Japan.
I don't really like to talk about money on the blog, but this was enough that I had to rant about it. We're talking more money than I've earned this financial year here, and most of the money I have earned this year has gone on my monthly health insurance bill (and my public transport costs and other people's birthday presents).

In other news, in case you missed it, the big earthquake in chile has made the day shorter and I'm not going to feel guilty about my lack of desire to reproduce, regardless of what Kevin Rudd or my grandmother may think (that said, I'm very happy for the acquaintance who I spotted across a mall today who it seems is very pregnant). Also, if you're one of the few people on the internet who hasn't seen this yet, you have to see this.

Expect better news about the thesis tomorrow, I hope. Right now I'm overtired and headed to bed. Sorry for any incoherences.

Chibi-Sailor Coruscant in a pinch! And now to bed...

Home again, with four more teeth in a jar and a tongue that tingles on one side like pins and needles.

bruises on the side of my face

Chibi-Sailor Coruscant in a pinch! Submitted version...

My work has focussed primarily on star formation, looking at the problems of gravitational collapse, and on molecular clouds, simulating the emission of shocked hydroxyl molecules in clouds that are interacting with supernova remnants.

Screw the apologetic tone, I'm awesome and the world needs to know it without a broader opening sentence.

Chibi-Sailor Coruscant in a pinch! Fuck this shit...

Someday I am going to have a place of my own, where no one can ask favours of me that need to be done right this second (when said favour involves me not looking my worst, I don't think "right this second" is an appropriate time frame for someone slightly hungover and premenstrual. Five minutes is all I asked for). And then when I'm dressed up, chucking a hissy fit and saying you don't want to do it anymore is just bitchy.

So... yeah, looking forward to a place of my own, where I can eat on my own schedule, and work as I chose, and things will be clean, and nice, and people will like me. Because everything around here sucks. Especially me.

Chibi-Sailor Coruscant in a pinch! Back in Cambridge...

Little bit exhausted from too much vacation. *grins* Jessie, John and Daniel send their love.

Chibi-Sailor Coruscant in a pinch! *yawns*...

You can expect a proper blog post tomorrow, in which I report on the excursion to the nuclear power plant, but for now, have a handful of random links and then I'm going to bed. Oh, and I should report that I got around to entering my awesome sampler of awesome in the Easter Show in category 43: embroidery of a modern design. There's $10 I'll never see again, but perhaps I'll make some poor soul laugh. Pattern notes now available.
