Oh dear lord save me from my own cooking...Moo-less chocolate pie
Just believe me when I say it's delicious and I can't wait to share it with everyone.
Edit: Now with actual linkage. *sighs*
Edit the second:

My subconscious works in mysterious ways...I figured it out.
I'm not knitting it because I wanted to knit the most geeky thing imaginable (and short of knitting myself katamari ears the scarf was the most geeky thing ever).
I'm not knitting it because I need something to get me through the conference planning.
And I'm not knitting it because my earliest memories of childhood tv are of the Muppets and Doctor Who (even though they are, but not crossed over, because that would be weird and I wonder if they ever did that? The Muppet Wiki says "no", but then I found this BBC poll, which is good enough really and can I write Doctor Honeydew meets Doctor Who fanfiction please?)
Nope, I'm doing it because when you get right down to it, a Fourth Doctor scarf is absolutely necessary to complete this outfit:

Yet another crafty post...I told you guys I meant to make this a weekly thing, and I meant it. So here's this week's update (I messed up in a few places with the editing, forgive me?):

I'm a tiny little bit sick of it at the moment, but I'm getting another set of maths assignments to mark tomorrow, so I should knit as much as I can while I'm not working 16 hour days.
Current stitch count: 48.8%

Gah! *flails wildly*...There's a moment that comes when you're watching tv, and suddenly it hits you that the hairy, grumpy, hispanic guy in your tv show is someone you know. And you recognise that grumpy voice, and the moustache, and suddenly you're flailing because "OMG WEIRD!" that guy on tv is Adama, now a federal judge for the united states and how did you not recognise him in the last three episodes he was in this show?
Then you fall off your bed, flailing.

A minor rant...But first, a note to say that if you're going to reference someone in your blog multiple times, Catherine, it helps if you actually post the original rant, rather than keep it hidden. *_*'
Frankly, dude, if you're never in, don't tell me how to run the office. Yes, it's warm in here for the first twenty minutes of the morning until the cold air outside causes us to normalise. It's not hot, and it's not even that stuffy. It's just a bit warmer than you would expect for a May morning.
And don't go switching the air conditioning on without first closing the windows. The gods of climate change (and my rage at your continued existence) will smite you for that.

So, who's sick of hearing about the conferences? The answer is me! (For the record, we got enough people, and the deadline is technically tomorrow night, since I need my beauty sleep and we want to give everyone around the world a chance to register. And I didn't break the site at all today, go team me!)
So tonight I bring you a scaled and dated (well, more or less) photo of my latest craft project, because you all need to know just how stressed I am (I only knit this quickly when I'm stressed and need an escape).

I've made myself a promise that I'll have it finished and ready to wear on the last day of the second conference. It doesn't look like it'll be a problem, as I've still got a month and a half and it is now... *bashes head against carculator for a bit* ...31% done.
Wait, that's it? It's not even a third of the proper length, and it comes up to my chin already? I'm doomed!

Heh...I checked with the treasurer this morning, and it turns out we only needed 39 students to break even on the kiddy conference. We had that by lunchtime yesterday and are now at ~45 or so, with a few bonuses from New Zealand coming along for the ride.
And we're only 17 short on the grown-up conference, no doubt with a big rush to come this afternoon.
Someone remind me to post photos of my new knitting project at some point. I keep meaning to make it a "take a photo once a week and show how it grows" thing, but I keep forgetting. The good thing is I have a very good memory, and I'll just annotate the first photo with dates.

Only 40 more to go...Earlybird registration for the conferences is tomorrow. We're currently 40 people short for the main one, but on the other hand, we received 40 registrations today, and it does seem like everyone is leaving it to the last minute. I certainly know the boss hasn't registered yet.
The most excellent news is that we're about to break even on the students-only conference, which hopefully means we'll have enough money to buy star-shaped cookies for everyone!
And if I didn't have classes on Wednesday morning, I'd totally be taking the day off to recover from the stress of the last two days. Ah well, maybe I'll take the afternoon off and hunt down some new manga to entertain me (surely tsubasa 13 is out by now).

An open letter to the woman on the train with the nailclippers...Eww! Just eww! There are no real words, merely onomatopoeia to describe how I feel about you leaving your finger and toe nails all over the seat and floor of the train.
I have no problem with you sitting there clipping your nails, but just as I want you to take your used tissues with you, I want you to not leave behind all those scraps of DNA. Because aside from the fact that a witch could use them to hex you something severe, it's just eww!
Please peoples, remember that when you stand up on a train someone else sits down. Would you like to have their toenails digging into your butt?

Brief Update...So, if we include all the Local Organising Committee and the kids who asked for financial support, we've had 25 registrations for the student conference so far, with 2 weeks until the earlybird deadline. This is great news, I think, since most people wait until the last day to register, and we've done most of our budgeting around there being at least 50 people.
I'm not sure that any of this was because of the work I've done for it all, but it's nice to know that the webpages (including the registration system) are still working and nobody has made any complaints (except for Lesa, who broke it on the first day by not liking more than one type of food).
So yeah. I will at some point bring everyone up to date about what's going on and why I'm so busy with it all, but it's not going to be today because I'm about to go teach a lab class.

Slipping through the cracks in reality...So, every time I step out of my office, I am greeted with this view:

And every time I find myself pondering why that doorway was bricked up. Was it too cold? Too noisy with all the students walking back and forth? Is there someone trapped inside, unable to get out but still able to breathe through the snorkel?
Or is it the case that there was never a door there, and I am the only person to see that the wall's texture changes at that point? Perhaps it's a portal to another realm, and if I just take the courage to step forward and touch the cement I will find that my fingers slip through it and I am magically transported to another world.
On the other hand it's probably just the quantum physics students being antisocial again.

In your internet, googling your people...So I was vaguely searching online for my friends and I found this fanfic by one Devron Zal...
It's almost enough to make me dredge up all the old fanfic from the junkyard, which is sitting on a disc at home somewhere, so I can properly embarrass my friends.
