How stupid do these people think I am?...So I'm doing assignment marking for the maths department this semester, since I need some extra money to pay all my sightseeing over the next few months. And for the most part, it's pretty fun. I get to work at home, and watch tv as I do it, and generally have fun. After ten assignments, I have the solutions memorised enough that I can do the rest without constantly checking the cheat sheet (which has a few errors in it).
And all would be good, but for the fact that the students think I'm an idiot. They have to sign a declaration on the front saying that plagiarism, for the purpose of this assignment, is considered to be the act of "copying or summarising another person's work, or, where there was collaborative preparatory work, submitting substantially the same final version of any material as another student".
That is to say, if you submit the exact same solutions, with the exact same errors, on the same unique blue paper, as the student before you, I am going to get really ticked off. Enough that I really want to just give you 0 and let you deal. Or possibly dob you in and get you failed in this course. Especially as you have signed a binding declaration saying that you "have written the solutions independently."
Grr!
