   Ooh...

I got me a Gmail account, thanks to being a "regular" blogger user. It's very nice. All hail our new Google overlords.
My normal email addy catherine@sailorcoruscant.com is having a bit of a problem with forwarding to the new addy, so if you do want to get in touch with me, try SailorCoruscant@gmail.com.

The advertising is not at all intrusive or scary like people have been complaining. ames and I have been testing it, and it's actually pretty clever. Most personal emails don't get ads, but every now and then when someone mentions an actual brand name, a link came up.
In fact, when James sent an email of content:

Subject: Motorola Kawasaki Quarter-Pounder French Fries!
Apple Google Sony Subway old Dick Smith and Shakespeare's Pies!
Dick Smith, Wendy's Woolworths Nintendo and Burger King
Microsoft, Buffy Angel Firefly Stargate and The Ring!

we got a targeted ad:

Sponsored Links
Franchise Works.com
Information on Franchises, Business Opportunities & Home Businesses
http://www.franchiseworks.com

which is pretty appropriate when one thinks about it really.
So, okay, I've only had my email account for six "conversations" (as lists of threaded replies are referred to), but dear god the interface is so sweet. Keyboard shortcuts make my life easier (less mousing or tabbing through long lists) and the tiny little adwords bar on the right is about as intrusive as it is on the normal google search page, unlike the flash advertising on other webmail interfaces (yahoo's...), which crash the browser on James' computer (Mozilla or Safari for OS X).

I finally got around to ordering DJ Moon 1 today. I can't wait for it to arrive, but there was some hiccup with the processing that means I have to chat with their techies before they post my CD.

I'm not ill, I'm just upgrading my immune system...

Note to self: Just because you are suffering from one debilitating disease does not mean you cannot contract a second.
I hung around and nursed Heidi on monday when she had the flu. Now I have glandular, and the flu. Lucky...
