   Oi, Odango Atama...
It occured to me that I haven't been posting here at all really. Sorry about that (to my two loyal fans).
Anyway, I'm headed to bed soon, but I just sent out an interesting email to one of the sailor moon lists, and I thought it would fit in with the general weirdness of this page. So here you go.

Okay, this is how I wear my odango:

1) Tie hair in pigtails (this is actually harder than it sounds. They *never* turn out symmetrical first try).

2) Grab a pigtail in one hand. Twist it so that it forms a length of rope-like hair about 6-7 inches in length (you can twist your whole pigtail, but you only need about that much).

3) Tie a knot in your pigtail. This involves forming a loop (going in the same direction as the twisting) and pulling the rest of your hair through the loop. Also note that you want the rest of your hair to be at the back of your head, so it's possible another twist or two is in order. You want the knot to be as tight as possible and this takes some practice.

4) Wrap another elastic around the whole bun, pinning both it and the remainder of your ponytail in place. This should be right up against your head, and the bun should be no more than 1.5 inches in diameter if you've done it right.

5) Repeat for other side. You now should have some very messy odango (or neat, if you've had enough practice).

The whole process can be completed in five minutes once you've had enough practice at it. Just sit in front of a mirror and practice many many times.
