Sailor Coruscant

Only the Waves

There is still some light on the horizon,
Though the first star starts to shine.
People in their homes sit down to dinner,
The child will not eat all his vegetables.
In his office a man works late,
Those on the train head for home.
Fairy lights in the trees flash and sparkle,
Street lamps guide the cars on their way.
A chill breeze blows in from the ocean,
Scents of summer hang in the air.

Many more stars burn in the heavens,
The horizon is dark like the ocean.
Anyone sane has gone home for the day,
Not paying the price of staying out.
People prepare for their bedtimes,
They wish now for happier dreams.
A wind like ice burns the skin,
And the sea has turned harsh and cruel.
One girl stands alone on the beach here,
And only the waves hear her sing.
