Small Lady's Story
Small Lady Serenity came flying into the throne room at breakneck speed. Causing quite a stir as she pushed through the crowds that were demanding to see her mother. Without realising, she tripped over the stairs to the Queen's dais, her crescent moon sigil flashing brightly.
The throne room erupted into laughter as one after another of the petitioners realised that the Crown Princess had suffered from another of her "klutz attacks". She stood up, blushing as she brushed down her dress.
"What is wrong Small Lady?" asked Neo Queen Serenity as she signalled for the court to leave her. She walked down from the dais to embrace her embarrassed daughter.
"Oh Mummy, I'm so scared. All the people in the palace say that there will be war, and people will be fighting, and I'm so frightened." She threw her arms around her mother, longing for support and comfort.
"They are right Small Lady. There will be fighting", Neo Queen Serenity sighed. "But you should not be frightened 'Reni. You have the Senshi to protect you and you will be Queen one day, and it is not right for a Queen to be afraid." Caught in a fierce hug, Small Lady could only nod, her fears melting away.
"But Mummy, they say that the Bad People want the Silver Crystal", giving one big sob, Small Lady started to cry.
"Do not fret, 'Reni. They will never get the Silver Crystal, for you and I will protect it. Won't we?" Small Lady nodded, brushing away her tears on the sleave of her dress. "Do not do that, it is not lady-like", Neo Queen Serenity admonished, producing a handkerchief from somewhere in the folds of her dress.
Small Lady sniffled, then smiled and moved to leave the room.
" 'Reni? One more thing?" Neo Queen Serenity asked, and Small Lady turned back. "Promise me that you will never forget how much I love you." There were tears shining in Neo Queen Serenity's eyes.
Small Lady was confused by her mother's use of such a question, but nodded nonetheless to reassure her. She left the room, but the courtiers were not allowed back in. From behind the throne emerged Neo King Endymion, who moved to comfort his crying Queen.
"Oh Endymion, she is so young, why could they not have waited, why could not time just stand still until she is better prepared for this?"
"Hush, my love", he said, "You have trained her well, you know that."
"But could I not have at least trained her in the use of the Silver Crystal?"
"Because if you had done that, you would have changed history."
Holding each other close, the King and Queen of Crystal Tokyo gathered their courage to help each other survive the ordeal ahead. Although both knew what the outcome would be, they still worried, for their kingdom, themselves, and for their only daughter.

Running through the halls and passageways of the Crystal Palace, Small Lady Serenity could hear the mocking laughter of the various ladies of the court echoing behind her. The scene played over and over in her mind as she ran blindly on.
"Look at her. She will never be a lady like her mother."
"She is so clumsy, she would probably drop the Silver Crystal and break it."
"When she is Queen, I will leave Crystal Tokyo. She'd accidentally destroy the city."
"She can't even walk five meters without tripping over."
As she ran on, Small Lady could hear them mocking her, over and over, proving in every way that she was not the lady her mother was. Exhausted from crying and running, she stopped to find herself outside her mother's rooms. She opened the door to find the room empty.
On a pedestal near the closed window was the Silver Crystal.
'Maybe I could use the Silver Crystal to make me into a proper lady like Mummy", she thought. Reaching up her small hands, Small Lady Serenity touched the Silver Crystal.
Her world exploded in a burst of white light. She fell down, but made no move to stand until she could see again. What she saw when she did open her eyes scared her more than all the talk about the coming fighting would.
The Silver Crystal was gone. Small Lady slowly stood up and backed towards the door, her lips forming one word. "No", she whispered, not wanting to believe it. "No", she repeated, running into the corridor and going to hide under her bed. "No!" she screamed sobbing wildly.
On the balcony, Neo Queen Serenity looked up at the sound of her daughter's cry of anguish. On her cheek glistened a single silver tear.

The attack came that afternoon. Without warning the starships of the Black Moon Family came down through the Earth's atmosphere. Yet they caused no damage, as thought waiting for some sign.
The Inner Senshi had gathered with the Queen to protect her. Their course was set and nothing would make them change their minds about a decision they had never made.
A small knock came at the door. It opened and Small Lady Serenity poked her head around the door. "Mummy?" she asked, "I'm scared." She had come to apologise.
"Small Lady, I told you to stay in your room until this is over", Neo Queen Serenity snapped harshly. Just then, the room flashed dark for a moment. The Senshi reacted instantly, casting the spell that would save the Queen.
When the darkness lifted, Small Lady Serenity saw that her mother was encased in a solid crystal, appearing to be asleep. "Mummy?" she asked of the silent figure, "Mummy?"
There was no answer. In a rush of overwhelming grief, Small Lady Serenity realised that it was all her fault that her mother was trapped like this. If Neo Queen Serenity had had the Silver Crystal, then she would not be encased in crystal now. She turned to the Senshi and asked of them, "Now what am I to do?"
Sailor Mercury spoke first. "Small Lady, it is our task to protect the Queen and her Kingdom. We will do so for as long as our strength remains. Now, you must leave us, and find your own path to follow."
Joining hands, the Senshi proceeded to cast a spell such that would protect the castle. However, in doing so they locked themselves from the world and Small Lady Serenity was able to get no further answers from them.
She stated crying and ran from her mother's rooms for the second time that day.

She spent the next few hours desperately searching the palace for any sign of her father. Occasionally the palace shook as an explosion rocked it, but her father should be directing the troops against the Black Moon Family invaders. The palace seemed deserted, as she had not seen anyone for over an hour, so finally, emotionally exhausted, Small Lady Serenity sat down on a bench in the courtyard to cry.
A purple glow started to appear next to her. "Puu!" Small Lady cried throwing her hands around the still materialising Guardian of Time, glad to see a familiar face at last.
"Small Lady", Sailor Pluto hugged her gently.
"Oh Puu", Small Lady sobbed, "Everything has gone wrong. Mummy is trapped in a crystal, Daddy has disappeared and the Silver Crystal is gone."
"Have no fear Small Lady, I have seen the future, and Neo Queen Serenity will be revived. But you have an important role to play in her rescue."
"You mean you want me to help Mummy?" Small Lady was amazed that Pluto would ever need her help.
"Yes, it is your destiny to go back in time and retrieve the Silver Crystal there. Once you have the Silver Crystal, you will be able to come home."
"But I don't know anything about the past. How can I help my Mummy if I don't know who has the Silver Crystal there?"
"I will send you to the keeper of the Crystal. She will help you rescue your Mother."
"Puu, say you will come with me? Don't leave me alone."
"I have a gift for you Small Lady." Sailor Pluto brought out a large ball from behind her back. It was shaped like the head of Luna, her mother's adviser, even down to the crescent moon symbol on its forehead. "This is Luna-P. It will allow you to talk to me while you are in the past. It has other powers that you will have to discover for yourself. And this is your Crystal Key", she said handing it over. The Key was small, like a miniature version of Pluto's Staff, garnet and all, and attached to a chain with Pluto tied around Small Lady's neck. "It will allow you to travel through the time gates to the past, where you must find the Silver Crystal."
The air around Small Lady began to shimmer, and Sailor Pluto seemed to fade away. "Puu!" she called frantically, "Don't leave me alone!"
From the abyss Small Lady Serenity could hear Sailor Pluto's voice. "I'm sorry, Small Lady", she said, "But it must be this way."
"Puu!" Small Lady called out, as she fell towards the earth, and the one who would lead her to the Silver Crystal and the rescue of her mother.
"Puu!"
